APPLICATIONS OF SECTIONAL DRIVEN PILES:
- when the working height is limited, for example in existing buildings or in factory
buildings under pipework, etc.; the sectional concrete pile is mainly used for industrial
flooring;
- in places which are difficult to reach, for example inside an existing building or in a
garden with a narrow access;
- in areas where loud vibrations from pile-driving are not permitted;
- where work has to be carried out at low vibration levels.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION ON SECTIONAL DRIVEN PILES:
General:
- Length of pile: depending on the depth of the bearing stratum;
- Raking piles: in general not used;
- Minimum working height: from approx. 3 m, depending on dimensions of the pile and the
type of pile-driving rig required;
- Minimum access width: from 0.7 m, depending on the dimensions of the pile and the
pile-driving rig required;
- Minimum access height: from 1.7 m, depending on the dimensions of the pile and the
pile-driving rig required;
- Minimum distance from centre of pile to a wall: 400 mm or more, depending on the
dimensions of the pile, the required type of machine and the working space available;
- Monitoring and testing: recording the set of the pile per number of blows.
Sectional concrete piles:
- Diameter of concrete pile sections: 230 mm, 280 mm, 310 mm, 350 mm;
- Grade of concrete: C30/37;
- Reinforcement: minimum longitudinal reinforcement 0.3%, FeB 500;
- Maximum bearing capacity 500 kN (in the above-mentioned standard dimensions); the pile
does not resist tensile forces;
- The pile is built up of sections which are 1.5 m, 2 m or 3 m long;
- Weight of drop hammer: 400 kg to 2500 kg depending on the dimensions of the pile and
type of soil.
Sectional tubular pile:
- Diameter of tubular sections: 133 mm, 168 mm, 219 mm;
- Grade of concrete: C30/37;
- Maximum bearing capacity 250 kN (in the above mentioned standard dimensions); the pile
does not resist tensile forces;
- The pile is built up of sections which are 1.5 m or 2 m long;
- Other sizes are available on request;
- Weight of drop hammer: 400 kg to 2500 kg depending on the dimensions of the pile and
type of soil.
